Balls Dance Technique Classes
Taught by
members of Eva Dean Dance
Every Wednesday, 10 am – 12 noon
Drop-ins Welcome, $13/class
Eva Dean Dance teaches the new dance form it has developed called Balls Dance Technique (BDT). A great form of conditioning for dancers, BDT is designed specifically to lengthen dancers' careers. Built from the BOUNCE repertory, the technique uses physio balls as dancing partners to strengthen the energetic reach and physical endurance of dancing artists.

Union Street Dance Repertoire Workshop
taught by Francine Ott
April 2008 - Tuesdays from 10am - noon
$13 single class / $50 five class card
Ms. Ott will teach choreography of her piece A DELICATE BALANCE, music by Bjork, “Eternal,” by Quincy Phillips, arranged by: David Ogle with vocals by Nicholas Gant. The choreographic movement is a spiritual hybrid of hip hop, house, modern, and african dance. These diverse styles of dance are organically fused together to create a flow in the body that is in constant motion, while unfolding a universal story that is raw and sincere.
Francine Elizabeth Ott, a native of New Orleans, began her formal training at 15 with the TKD Dance Academy under the direction of Tanis Dasher and Michelle Gibson. She received her B.F.A in Dance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and studied at many dance intensives, including the American Dance Festival and Jacob’s Pillow, where she received scholarships. Francine has worked and danced with Karen Arceneaux, Camille A. Brown, Ronald K. Brown, Brian Green, Tony Kundu, Kwame A. Ross, and Kelly White, among others. She has taught for the Family Dynamics After-School Program, the Beacon Center, the Better Brooklyn Community Center and she currently teaches at the Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn. Her work has been showcased at This Woman’s Work 2007, Herbert Von King Park-SummerStage, The Harlem School of the Arts Theater, A Story of Her Steps/Bric Studios, Passions Dance Project ’06, Dance Harlem ’06-‘07, Dixon Place, International Association of Blacks in Dance, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Mulberry Street Theatre.
